Step 1 – painting the clipboard.

I used craft paint, sponge brush and a small flat brush to paint around the clip at the top.  I find this much easier to do verses using the sponge brush. Let first coast dry fully before applying the second coat. You will notice the yellow also - I didn’t like the way the yellow turned out so I painted over it - hey, it is always a work in progress!

Step 2

Step 2 – cut your 12×12 paper to 12×9 and use a decorative punch around all the edges.  Make a template to measure 3 x1.25 inches to use at the top of the front of the board to cut out where the metal clip is. 

Step 3 - use Modge Podge (MP) glue with a sponge brush to apply paper to the clipboard.  I always cover the entire surface with MP then apply the paper.  I use a “speed ball” roller (bought at Hobby Lobby) and start in one corner and work my way down with the roller a little at a time to make sure the paper is flat.  Using MP is a little tricky at first but keep trying, it does get easier.

Step 4 – I cut the flowers using Plantin Schoolbook cartridge on my Cricut.  The flower sizes are 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 and 2.0 inches – there was no reasoning as to how many of each size I cut.  I used Cuttin’ Up cartridge to cut out Renee and the size was 2.0. 

Before gluing these down, I placed my name where I wanted it and then placed the flowers under my name.  To glue all this down, I used a two-way glue pen and just started gluing them down.  After they were all placed, I went over the entire back of the clipboard with MP again.
